Heart-Healthy Turmeric Ginger Tea
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric (or 1 teaspoon fresh turmeric, grated)
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
- A pinch of black pepper (to enhance the absorption of turmeric)
- Optional: a dash of cayenne pepper for an extra kick
Instructions:
- Boil Water: Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a small pot or kettle.
- Add Ingredients: Add the grated ginger, turmeric, and a pinch of black pepper to the boiling water. If using, add a dash of cayenne pepper as well.
- Simmer: Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes. This allows the flavors and beneficial compounds to infuse into the water.
- Strain: Remove from heat and strain the tea into a cup to remove the ginger and turmeric pieces.
- Add Lemon and Honey: Stir in the fresh lemon juice and honey or maple syrup, if desired, for sweetness.
- Serve: Enjoy warm.
Benefits:
- Ginger and turmeric have anti-inflammatory properties and are thought to improve circulation.
- Lemon provides vitamin C and antioxidants.
- Honey offers natural sweetness and has its own antioxidant properties.
- Black pepper enhances the absorption of curcumin, the active compound in turmeric.

- Consult a Doctor: If you’re on medication or have health concerns, particularly related to blood clotting or anticoagulants, consult with your healthcare provider before incorporating this drink regularly.
