Homemade Garlic and Honey Cough Syrup
Ingredients:
- 1 whole garlic bulb (about 8-10 cloves)
- 1 cup raw honey (organic if possible)
- 1 small piece of ginger (about 1-2 inches)
- 1 lemon (juice of)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- 1/2 tsp turmeric (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Garlic and Ginger:
- Peel the garlic cloves and smash them slightly with the side of a knife to release their natural oils.
- Peel and grate the ginger.
- Combine the Ingredients:
- In a small jar, add the smashed garlic cloves and grated ginger.
- Pour the honey over the garlic and ginger until they are fully submerged.
- Add the juice of one lemon, and stir in cinnamon and turmeric if you’re using them for added anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting benefits.
- Let It Sit:
- Seal the jar with a lid and let the mixture sit at room temperature for at least 24 hours. This allows the honey to draw out the beneficial properties of the garlic and ginger.
- Store:
- After 24 hours, you can start using the syrup. Keep it stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
How to Use:
- Take 1 tablespoon of the syrup 2-3 times a day for relief from coughing and congestion. For lung cleansing, try to take it consistently for 3 days.
