Ingredients:
- 1 large onion
- 2-3 garlic cloves (optional, but enhances the effect)
- 1 tablespoon of black pepper powder
- 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 tablespoon of dish soap or any mild liquid soap
- 2 cups of water
- Spray bottle
Instructions:
- Prepare the Onion Solution:
- Finely chop the onion and garlic.
- In a blender, add the chopped onion, garlic, black pepper powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Add 2 cups of water and blend until smooth.
- Strain the Mixture:
- Using a fine strainer or cheesecloth, strain the mixture to remove solid pieces. You want to get as much liquid as possible.
- Add Soap:
- Pour the strained liquid into a spray bottle.
- Add 1 tablespoon of liquid soap to the bottle and shake gently to mix.
- Use the Spray:
- Spray the solution around areas where you’ve seen cockroaches or lizards, especially around baseboards, corners, and entry points like windows and doors.
- Spray directly on cockroaches or lizards if you see them.
How It Works:
- Onion & Garlic: Both have strong sulfur compounds that pests dislike.
- Black Pepper & Cayenne Pepper: These spicy ingredients irritate cockroaches and lizards, discouraging them from staying in the area.
- Soap: It helps to coat the pests, suffocating smaller ones like cockroaches.
Effectiveness:
- Cockroaches and lizards will be deterred within minutes of spraying the solution. You may need to reapply every few days for long-term effectiveness.
