How to Cut a Watermelon into Cubes

Ingredients:

  • 1 large watermelon

Tools Needed:

  • Sharp chef’s knife
  • Large cutting board

Instructions:

  1. Wash the Watermelon:
    • Rinse the watermelon under cold water to remove any dirt or residue.
  2. Trim the Ends:
    • Place the watermelon on its side.
    • Using a sharp knife, cut off both ends (the stem and the bottom) to create flat surfaces.
  3. Cut the Watermelon in Half:
    • Stand the watermelon upright on one of the flat ends.
    • Slice it down the middle, cutting the watermelon in half from top to bottom.
  4. Quarter the Watermelon:
    • Place each half cut-side down on the cutting board.
    • Cut each half into quarters by slicing again lengthwise.
  5. Remove the Rind:
    • Take one quarter and lay it flat.
    • Carefully run your knife between the pink flesh and the rind, removing the entire strip of rind in one smooth cut.
  6. Slice into Strips:
    • With the rind removed, slice the watermelon flesh lengthwise into even strips, about 1-inch thick.
  7. Cut into Cubes:
    • Rotate the sliced quarter and cut crosswise into 1-inch cubes. Repeat with all quarters.
  8. Enjoy or Store:
    • Place the cubes in a serving bowl, or store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.

Now you have perfectly cubed watermelon, great for snacking, salads, or adding to summer drinks!
