Ingredients:
- 2 large pomegranates
- 1-2 tablespoons sugar or honey (optional, to taste)
- 1/4 cup water (optional, for thinning)
- Ice cubes (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Pomegranates:
- Cut off the crown (top) of each pomegranate.
- Make shallow cuts along the ridges from top to bottom and gently pull the pomegranate apart into sections.
- Submerge the sections in a bowl of water and remove the seeds (arils) from the membrane. The seeds will sink to the bottom while the membranes float.
- Drain the seeds and discard the membranes.
- Blend the Seeds:
- Place the pomegranate seeds in a blender.
- Blend the seeds on high for about 15-20 seconds until they are well crushed and juiced.
- Strain the Juice:
- Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to strain the juice into a bowl, pressing down with a spoon to extract all the liquid.
- Discard the remaining pulp and seed bits.
- Sweeten (Optional):
- Taste the juice. If you prefer it sweeter, add 1-2 tablespoons of sugar or honey and stir well until dissolved.
- Serve:
- Pour the pomegranate juice into a glass. You can add ice cubes and a bit of water if the juice is too concentrated for your taste.
- Enjoy:
- Your fresh and tasty pomegranate juice is ready! Serve immediately for the best flavor.
Tips:
- For an extra refreshing twist, add a squeeze of lemon or lime juice.
- You can also mix this pomegranate juice with sparkling water or soda for a fizzy, light version.
Enjoy your homemade pomegranate juice!
