How to Make Turmeric Water

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric (or 1-inch fresh turmeric root)
  • 1 cup water
  • Lemon juice (optional)
  • Honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • A pinch of black pepper (optional, enhances absorption of turmeric)

Instructions:

  1. Boil Water: In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil.
  2. Add Turmeric: Once the water is boiling, add 1 teaspoon of ground turmeric (or the fresh turmeric root, peeled and grated).
  3. Simmer: Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. This allows the turmeric to infuse into the water.
  4. Strain (if using fresh turmeric): If you used fresh turmeric, strain the mixture into a glass to remove the solid pieces.
  5. Add Optional Ingredients:
    • For flavor and added benefits, squeeze in some lemon juice and stir in honey or maple syrup if you prefer a sweeter taste.
    • Add a pinch of black pepper to enhance the absorption of curcumin, the active compound in turmeric.
  6. Serve: Enjoy your turmeric water warm or let it cool and serve it over ice.

Storage: You can store any leftover turmeric water in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Shake or stir well before consuming.

Enjoy your healthy turmeric water!
