Salted Butter Caramel Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup salted butter (cut into small pieces)
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt (adjust to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Melt the Sugar: In a medium-sized, heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat the granulated sugar over medium heat. Stir constantly with a heatproof spatula or whisk. The sugar will start to clump, then melt into a thick amber-colored liquid. Be careful not to burn it.
  2. Add Butter: Once the sugar is completely melted and smooth, add the salted butter. The mixture will bubble up vigorously, so stir carefully until the butter is fully melted and combined.
  3. Add Cream: Slowly pour in the heavy cream while continuing to stir. The caramel will bubble up again. Keep stirring until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Salt: Remove the pan from heat and stir in the sea salt.
  5. Cool: Let the caramel cool for a few minutes, then transfer to a jar. As it cools, it will thicken. You can store it in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Enjoy this caramel on ice cream, pancakes, or straight from the jar! 😊
