Alexis Ohanian ‘betrays’ wife Serena for Coco Gauff: ‘I have a place waiting for you in a suite’

Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit and a vocal advocate for women’s sports, has extended a personal invitation to tennis sensation Coco Gauff. He’s offered her a spot at his upcoming Athlos NYC event, a track and field competition exclusively for female athletes.

The invitation highlights Gauff’s renowned speed and athleticism, traits that have long fueled speculation about her potential in track and field. Gauff herself has expressed a strong belief in her track capabilities, stating after a match in Toronto last year, “I don’t know if I would have been as good as I was in tennis in track, but I strongly feel like if I would have trained I could have been an Olympian. Track is the only sport I would say that in, just because I did do well in middle school, never training. I didn’t go to one track practice, and I won all my races except two.”

Her athletic lineage further underscores her natural talent. Her mother, Candi Gauff, competed in track and field at Florida State University, and her father, Corey Gauff, played basketball at Georgia State.

Recent praise from track star Zoe Hobbs, who remarked on Gauff’s “power,” prompted Ohanian’s invitation: “I got a spot waiting for you in a trackside suite @CocoGauff ATHLOS 25.”

While Ohanian’s gesture celebrates Gauff’s athletic prowess, it has also sparked playful commentary from fans. Many have jokingly speculated about Serena Williams’s potential reaction, with some teasing Ohanian about “betraying” his wife by showing enthusiasm for another athlete.

Gauff, 20, continues to impress with her speed on the tennis court, leaving many to wonder what she might have achieved on the track.
