Heartbreak for David and Victoria Beckham following tragic loss

David and Victoria Beckham are mourning the loss of Kath Phipps, the esteemed Manchester United receptionist who passed away at the age of 85. Kath dedicated over 55 years to the club, becoming an integral part of its fabric and a cherished figure among players and staff.

David Beckham, who joined Manchester United as a teenager, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, posting a black-and-white photo of himself holding Kath’s hand. He wrote: “Forever in our hearts… The first and last face I would always see was Kath sat at reception at Old Trafford waiting to give me my tickets for the game. She was the heartbeat of Manchester United, everyone knew who Kath was and everyone adored her.”

Reflecting on his early days at the club, Beckham added: “I moved up to Manchester at 15 and Kath made a promise to my mum and dad ‘I’ll look after your boy for you don’t you worry’ and from that first day till the last day I spent with her that’s exactly what she did.” He concluded with a poignant note: “Old Trafford will never be the same without your smile as we walk through those doors… We love you.”

Kath Phipps began her journey with Manchester United in 1968 as a switchboard operator and later became the welcoming face at the club’s training ground reception. Her unwavering dedication and warm demeanor left an indelible mark on the club’s community. In 2022, she was honored with a Service to Football award by the League Managers’ Association, recognizing her significant contributions.

Tributes have poured in from other Manchester United legends. Wayne Rooney described her as “The heart and soul of Manchester United. Everything what the club is about. A legend who will be greatly missed.” Patrice Evra also expressed his condolences, emphasizing the familial bond she shared with everyone at the club.

Kath’s influence extended beyond her official duties; she was a confidante and maternal figure to many players, especially those who joined the club at a young age. Her promise to the Beckhams to look after David was a testament to her nurturing nature and the trust she garnered from players’ families.

The loss of Kath Phipps is deeply felt by the Manchester United community and the Beckham family. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering support will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege to know her.
