The Kansas City Chiefs have high hopes for their first-round pick, offensive tackle Josh Simmons, after a glowing comparison from one of the team’s top personnel executives. The exec recently likened Simmons’ potential to two of the NFL’s brightest young stars, Christian Darrisaw of the Minnesota Vikings and Rashawn Slater of the Los Angeles Chargers.
“Josh has all the tools to be a key player on our offensive line,” the executive remarked. “When we evaluated him, we saw a lot of similarities to Darrisaw and Slater—two guys who came into the league with the same combination of size, agility, and toughness that we believe Josh has.”
Darrisaw and Slater have become foundational pieces for their respective teams, with both earning Pro Bowl recognition early in their careers. If Simmons can follow in their footsteps, he could be a game-changer for the Chiefs’ offense.
