HOW TO MAKE AVOCADO OIL AT HOME FROM SCRATCH |COLD PRESSED |2 WAYS | AVOCADO OIL From SEED & SKIN

Introduction

Avocado oil is a prized ingredient in many kitchens and skincare routines due to its rich nutrient content and health benefits. But did you know you can make your own avocado oil at home? In this post, we’ll guide you through two methods of creating cold-pressed avocado oil: one using the avocado flesh, and the other utilizing both the seed and skin.

Method 1: Avocado Oil from Flesh

Materials:

  • Ripe avocados
  • Cheesecloth or muslin cloth
  • Large bowl
  • Glass jar with a tight-fitting lid

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the avocados: Choose ripe avocados with a slight give when gently pressed. Remove the skin and pit.
  2. Mash the avocados: Use a fork or potato masher to mash the avocado flesh into a smooth paste.
  3. Strain the oil: Place the cheesecloth or muslin cloth over the bowl. Pour the avocado paste into the cloth, and gather the corners to form a pouch. Squeeze the pouch gently to extract the oil into the bowl.
  4. Filter (optional): For a clearer oil, you can strain the extracted oil through a fine-mesh sieve into the glass jar.
  5. Store: Transfer the oil to the glass jar, seal tightly, and store in a cool, dark place.

Method 2: Avocado Oil from Seed and Skin

Materials:

  • Ripe avocados
  • Food processor or blender
  • Cheesecloth or muslin cloth
  • Large bowl
  • Glass jar with a tight-fitting lid

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the avocados: Cut the avocados in half and remove the pits. Save both the flesh, skin, and pits.
  2. Process the ingredients: Blend the avocado flesh, skin, and pit in a food processor or blender until a smooth paste forms.
  3. Strain the oil: Follow the same straining process as in Method 1, using cheesecloth or muslin cloth to extract the oil.
  4. Filter (optional): For a clearer oil, you can strain the extracted oil through a fine-mesh sieve into the glass jar.
  5. Store: Transfer the oil to the glass jar, seal tightly, and store in a cool, dark place.

Note:

  • The oil obtained from the seed and skin may have a stronger flavor and darker color compared to the oil from the flesh alone.
  • The yield of oil will vary depending on the ripeness and size of the avocados.
  • Homemade avocado oil may have a shorter shelf life compared to store-bought options. Store it in a cool, dark place and use it within a few months for optimal freshness.

Benefits of Homemade Avocado Oil:

  • Rich in antioxidants and healthy fats
  • Ideal for cooking, salad dressings, and skincare
  • Free from additives and preservatives

By following these methods, you can enjoy the benefits of freshly made avocado oil, knowing exactly what goes into it. Experiment with both methods to find your preferred taste and texture.
