Properly Boiled Egg Recipe
Ingredients:
- Just 1 Egg
- Water
- Ice cubes (optional for an ice bath)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Egg:
- Take just 1 egg and ensure it is fresh and at room temperature. If the egg is straight out of the fridge, let it sit at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes.
- Boiling the Egg:
- Fill a pot with enough water to cover the egg completely by about an inch.
- Gently place the egg in the pot.
- Place the pot on the stove and turn the heat to high.
- Once the water starts to boil, reduce the heat to medium-high.
- Timing:
- For a soft-boiled egg (with a slightly runny yolk), boil the egg for 6 minutes.
- For a medium-boiled egg (with a slightly jammy yolk), boil the egg for 8 minutes.
- For a hard-boiled egg (with a fully set yolk), boil the egg for 10-12 minutes.
- Cooling the Egg:
- Once the egg has reached the desired level of doneness, carefully remove it from the pot using a slotted spoon.
- Immediately place the egg into a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process and make peeling easier. Let it sit in the ice bath for about 5 minutes.
- Peeling the Egg:
- Gently tap the egg on a hard surface to crack the shell all over.
- Start peeling from the larger end where there’s usually an air pocket, making it easier to get under the shell.
- Rinse the peeled egg under cold water to remove any remaining shell bits.
- Serving:
- Enjoy your properly boiled egg as is, or sprinkle with a pinch of salt and pepper for added flavor.
- You can also slice it and add it to salads, sandwiches, or grain bowls for an extra boost of protein.
Just 1 Egg, properly boiled, can work wonders in your life! It’s a simple, nutritious, and versatile ingredient that can be enjoyed in many ways.
