Cilantro Saving Tip: Keep Coriander Fresh for Longer

Cilantro (or coriander) is a flavorful herb that can quickly wilt. Here’s a simple method to extend its life in your fridge:

Materials:

  • Fresh cilantro
  • Paper towel
  • Ziplock bag

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the cilantro: Rinse the cilantro under cold water and shake off excess moisture.
  2. Dry thoroughly: Pat the cilantro dry with a paper towel. Moisture is the enemy of freshness.
  3. Create a dry environment: Place a dry paper towel in a ziplock bag.
  4. Add cilantro: Add the dried cilantro to the ziplock bag.
  5. Seal and store: Remove as much air from the bag as possible before sealing. Store in the refrigerator.

Tips:

  • Check the paper towel every few days and replace it if it becomes damp.
  • For longer storage, consider freezing cilantro. Chop it and freeze in ice cube trays filled with water or olive oil.

By following these steps, you can enjoy fresh cilantro for a longer period.
