DIY Mouse Trap Recipe

Ingredients & Tools:

• 1 Empty Plastic Bottle (1-liter size works best)
• 1 Wooden or Metal Rod (long enough to go through the bottle)
• 1 Strong Rubber Band or Elastic Cord
• 1 Piece of Cheese or Peanut Butter (for bait)
• 1 Pair of Scissors or a Knife
• 1 Small Piece of Wood or Cardboard (as a base)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Bottle:
   • Cut a small door-like flap near the top of the bottle (on the side). This should be large enough for a mouse to enter but not too big. The flap should remain attached on one side, allowing it to act as a trapdoor.
2. Insert the Rod:
   • Poke a hole through the bottle cap and the bottom center of the bottle. Insert the rod through these holes, allowing the bottle to rotate freely when placed horizontally.
3. Attach the Rubber Band:
   • Attach the rubber band to the flap you created. Stretch the rubber band to a point where it will keep the flap closed but can be triggered to open if a mouse enters.
4. Set the Bait:
   • Smear some peanut butter or place a small piece of cheese on the inside surface of the bottle, near the flap, to attract the mouse.
5. Assemble the Trap:
   • Place the bottle horizontally on the piece of wood or cardboard, ensuring that the bottle can spin freely on the rod. The flap should be positioned to face upward.
6. Position the Trap:
   • Place the trap where you’ve noticed mouse activity. Ensure that it’s stable and the flap is correctly positioned to catch the mouse.
7. Wait for the Catch:
   • The mouse will enter the bottle to get the bait, causing the bottle to rotate slightly and trapping the mouse inside.

Tips:

• Make sure the trap is stable and placed in a location where mice are likely to pass by.
• Check the trap regularly and relocate it if necessary.
