Strawberry Bombs

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 300g (2 cups) flour
  • 1 egg
  • 45g (1/4 cup) sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 7g dry yeast
  • 140ml (3/5 cup) warm milk
  • 40g (1/4 cup) softened butter

For Decoration:

  • Whipped cream
  • Strawberries, chopped
  • Powdered sugar

Method:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a medium bowl, stir together the sugar, dry yeast, and warm milk until the yeast dissolves.
    • Whisk in the egg.
    • Add the flour and salt. Mix with a spatula until a dough starts to form. Then, use your hands to knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic.
    • Incorporate the softened butter into the dough, kneading until fully integrated.
    • Shape the dough into a ball, cover with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  2. Shape the Dough:
    • Once the dough has risen, divide it into eight equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
    • Cover the balls and let them rest for 30 minutes.
    • Gently flatten each ball and then re-shape it into a ball. Cover and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  3. Fry the Dough Balls:
    • Heat oil in a deep pan over low heat.
    • Fry the dough balls in the hot oil, turning them occasionally, until golden brown on all sides (about 2-3 minutes per side).
    • Remove from the oil and let cool slightly.
  4. Assemble the Strawberry Bombs:
    • Once cooled, cut each dough ball in half like a burger bun.
    • Spread whipped cream on one half and top with chopped strawberries.
    • Place the other half on top, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and serve.

Enjoy your sweet and delicious Strawberry Bombs!
