Grandmother’s Timeless Hair Tonic

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of fresh curry leaves
  • 1/2 cup of coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of amla (Indian gooseberry) powder
  • 1 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds
  • A few drops of rosemary essential oil (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • Rinse the fresh curry leaves thoroughly and let them dry completely.
    • If you don’t have fresh curry leaves, you can use dried ones, but fresh is preferable for maximum potency.
  2. Infuse the Oil:
    • In a small pan, heat the coconut oil over low heat.
    • Once the oil is warm, add the dried curry leaves, amla powder, and fenugreek seeds to the pan.
    • Let the mixture simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes until the leaves turn slightly crispy, and the oil changes color.
  3. Cool and Strain:
    • Remove the pan from heat and allow the oil mixture to cool completely.
    • Once cooled, strain the oil using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean glass jar, discarding the solid ingredients.
  4. Add Essential Oil (Optional):
    • If you’re using rosemary essential oil, add a few drops to the strained oil and mix well. Rosemary oil can stimulate hair growth and improve circulation to the scalp.
  5. Application:
    • Gently massage a small amount of the tonic into your scalp and hair, focusing on the roots.
    • Leave it on for at least an hour, or overnight for deeper nourishment.
    • Wash your hair with a mild shampoo and condition as usual.
  6. Frequency:
    • For best results, use this tonic 2-3 times a week.
