I’ve been making this Cheese Bread for 20 years now, and it has never failed me! It’s perfect for breakfast and goes wonderfully with coffee or tea.
Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon salt (5 grams)
- 300 milliliters water (about 1 1/5 cups)
- 420 grams all-purpose flour (approximately 2 2/3 cups), plus 1 additional tablespoon for dusting
- 100 grams cheddar cheese, grated
- 100 grams butter, melted
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Slowly add the water, mixing until the dough comes together. You can use your hands or a wooden spoon to form the dough.
- Add Cheese and Butter:
- Gradually incorporate the melted butter into the dough. Mix well until the dough becomes smooth and the butter is fully absorbed.
- Fold in the grated cheddar cheese and knead the dough lightly to evenly distribute the cheese.
- Rest the Dough:
- Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let the dough rest for about 30 minutes at room temperature. This will allow the flavors to blend and the dough to rise slightly.
- Shape the Bread:
- After resting, sprinkle some flour on your work surface and lightly knead the dough for a minute or two. Shape it into a round or oval loaf.
- Bake the Bread:
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Place the shaped dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cool and Serve:
- Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes.
- Slice and serve warm with butter or your favorite spread!
Enjoy this delicious cheese bread, perfect for breakfast or a snack!
