Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup milk (any type)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • In a medium saucepan, pour in the sweetened condensed milk.
    • In a small bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in the milk, stirring until smooth.
  2. Mix and Heat:
    • Add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan with the condensed milk.
    • Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly with a whisk or a wooden spoon.
  3. Add the Chocolate:
    • As the mixture begins to thicken, add the chocolate chips or chopped chocolate.
    • Continue stirring until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth and thickened. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add Vanilla (Optional):
    • Once the mixture is smooth and thick, remove it from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract, if using.
  5. Cool and Serve:
    • Pour the pudding into individual serving dishes or a large bowl.
    • Allow the pudding to cool slightly, then cover with plastic wrap directly on the surface of the pudding to prevent a skin from forming.
    • Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
  6. Enjoy:
    • Serve the pudding chilled, topped with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or fresh berries if desired.

This recipe is a delightful treat that combines the sweetness of condensed milk with the rich flavor of chocolate. The cornstarch helps thicken the mixture, resulting in a smooth and creamy texture. Enjoy your delicious homemade chocolate pudding!
