Crab and Shrimp Seafood Bisque

Ingredients:

  • 200g crab meat (lump or shredded)
  • 200g shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion (finely diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 stalk celery (finely diced)
  • 1 medium carrot (finely diced)
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 4 cups seafood stock (or chicken stock)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning (or your favorite seafood seasoning)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions:

  1. Sauté the Vegetables: In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion, celery, and carrot. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  2. Add Tomato Puree: Stir in the tomato puree and cook for about 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  3. Pour in the Stock: Add the seafood stock to the pot, and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for about 10 minutes.
  4. Add Seafood: Gently add the crab meat and shrimp to the pot. Stir in the Old Bay seasoning and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the shrimp are opaque and cooked through.
  5. Blend the Bisque (Optional): If you prefer a smoother texture, you can use an immersion blender to puree the bisque to your desired consistency. If you like it chunky, skip this step.
  6. Stir in the Cream: Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream. Heat through, but do not bring to a boil.
  7. Serve: Ladle the bisque into bowls, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve with lemon wedges on the side.

Enjoy!

This rich and flavorful bisque is perfect for a cozy dinner or special occasion. Enjoy the delightful combination of crab and shrimp in every spoonful!
