Ingredients:
- 1 cup fresh or frozen pineapple chunks
- 1 ripe banana (for creaminess)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric (or 1-inch fresh turmeric root, peeled and grated)
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger (grated, optional for added zing)
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, depending on sweetness preference)
- 1/2 cup coconut water (or regular water)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any plant-based milk)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds (for added fiber and omega-3s)
- A pinch of black pepper (to enhance turmeric absorption)
- 1/2 cup ice (optional for a colder smoothie)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Ingredients: If using fresh turmeric and ginger, peel and grate them. If you’re using frozen fruit, no need to thaw; it will make the smoothie colder and thicker.
- Blend: In a blender, add the pineapple chunks, banana, turmeric, ginger, honey/maple syrup, coconut water, almond milk, and chia seeds.
- Add Black Pepper: Just a small pinch of black pepper will help your body absorb the benefits of the turmeric.
- Blend Until Smooth: Blend everything on high speed for 30-60 seconds, or until the smoothie is creamy and well-mixed.
- Taste & Adjust: Taste the smoothie and adjust sweetness with honey or syrup, if needed. If you’d like it colder, you can blend in ice cubes or use frozen pineapple.
- Serve: Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately! For an extra touch, garnish with a sprinkle of chia seeds or a slice of pineapple on the side.
Optional Add-ins:
- A handful of spinach or kale for added greens.
- A tablespoon of flax seeds for more fiber.
- A scoop of protein powder for a post-workout boost.
This smoothie is not only refreshing but also loaded with anti-inflammatory benefits from turmeric and ginger, making it a perfect morning or post-workout treat!
