DIY Natural Insect Repellent Spray

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup witch hazel or rubbing alcohol (optional: acts as a preservative and helps the spray dry quickly)
  • 10 drops of eucalyptus essential oil
  • 10 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops of citronella essential oil
  • 10 drops of peppermint essential oil
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (optional: enhances repellent properties)
  • Spray bottle (preferably dark-colored to preserve essential oils)

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl or measuring cup, combine the water and witch hazel (or rubbing alcohol, if using).
  2. Add the essential oils: eucalyptus, lavender, citronella, and peppermint. Stir gently.
  3. If using apple cider vinegar, add it to the mixture and stir again.
  4. Carefully pour the mixture into the spray bottle using a funnel if necessary.
  5. Shake the bottle well to mix the ingredients.

How to Use:

  • Shake the bottle before each use.
  • Spray the mixture in areas where you often see flies, mosquitoes, or cockroaches. Focus on windows, doorways, kitchen surfaces, or outdoor spaces.
  • It should help repel insects within a few minutes.

This natural spray uses essential oils known for their insect-repelling properties and is safe for home use.
