Groundnut Snack Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup raw groundnuts (peanuts)
  • 1 tablespoon oil (peanut oil or any cooking oil)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (optional, for heat)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional, for a sweet touch)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional, for tang)

Instructions:

  1. Preparation:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) if you are roasting the peanuts in the oven.
    • If you prefer frying, heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Roasting/Frying:
    • Oven Method:
      • Spread the raw groundnuts in a single layer on a baking sheet.
      • Drizzle with oil and sprinkle salt, chili powder, garlic powder, and sugar (if using).
      • Toss to coat evenly.
      • Roast in the oven for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and fragrant.
    • Stovetop Method:
      • Add the raw groundnuts to the hot oil in the pan.
      • Fry them, stirring frequently, for about 5-10 minutes, until they turn golden brown.
  3. Finishing Touches:
    • Once roasted or fried, remove the groundnuts from heat and let them cool slightly.
    • If desired, drizzle with lemon juice and toss to coat.
    • Adjust salt and spices according to your taste.
  4. Serving:
    • Serve the groundnut snack warm or at room temperature. They make a great crunchy snack on their own or can be mixed with other nuts or seeds for a trail mix.
  5. Storage:
    • Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.

Enjoy your homemade groundnut snack!
