Homemade Garlic and Honey Cough Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole garlic bulb (about 8-10 cloves)
  • 1 cup raw honey (organic if possible)
  • 1 small piece of ginger (about 1-2 inches)
  • 1 lemon (juice of)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Garlic and Ginger:
    • Peel the garlic cloves and smash them slightly with the side of a knife to release their natural oils.
    • Peel and grate the ginger.
  2. Combine the Ingredients:
    • In a small jar, add the smashed garlic cloves and grated ginger.
    • Pour the honey over the garlic and ginger until they are fully submerged.
    • Add the juice of one lemon, and stir in cinnamon and turmeric if you’re using them for added anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting benefits.
  3. Let It Sit:
    • Seal the jar with a lid and let the mixture sit at room temperature for at least 24 hours. This allows the honey to draw out the beneficial properties of the garlic and ginger.
  4. Store:
    • After 24 hours, you can start using the syrup. Keep it stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

How to Use:

  • Take 1 tablespoon of the syrup 2-3 times a day for relief from coughing and congestion. For lung cleansing, try to take it consistently for 3 days.
