Ingredients:
- 1 large onion (anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial)
- 1 large lemon (rich in Vitamin C, boosts immune system)
- 2-3 cloves of garlic (natural antibiotic and lung cleanser)
- 2 tablespoons of raw honey (soothes throat, antibacterial)
- 1 teaspoon of ground turmeric (anti-inflammatory)
- 1 teaspoon of ground ginger (expectorant and lung cleanser)
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon (antimicrobial and antioxidant)
- 1 cup of water
Instructions:
- Prepare the onion and garlic:
- Peel and finely chop the onion.
- Peel and crush the garlic cloves.
- Simmer the mixture:
- In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a gentle boil.
- Add the chopped onion, garlic, ground turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon.
- Let it simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the lemon:
- Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
- Squeeze the juice from the lemon into the mixture and stir well.
- Add honey:
- Once the mixture has cooled to a lukewarm temperature (so it doesn’t destroy the honey’s benefits), stir in the raw honey.
- Strain and store:
- Strain the mixture into a glass jar, discarding the solid bits.
- Store the syrup in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Usage:
- Take 1 tablespoon of the syrup 2-3 times a day to help cleanse your lungs and reduce coughing.
- For children over 1 year old, reduce the dose to 1 teaspoon. Avoid giving honey to children under 1 year old.
Optional:
- Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for an extra boost to clear congestion.
