Natural Laundry Whitener Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide (3% solution)
  • 1 tablespoon of white vinegar
  • Optional: A few drops of your favorite essential oil for fragrance (e.g., lemon, lavender)

Instructions:

  1. Pre-Treatment (Optional): If you have heavily stained whites, you can pre-treat them by soaking in a mixture of 1 cup of warm water, 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide, and 1 tablespoon of baking soda for 30 minutes before washing.
  2. Adding to the Washing Machine:
    • Measure out 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide.
    • Add these ingredients directly into the washing machine drum along with your white laundry.
    • Pour 1 tablespoon of white vinegar into the fabric softener compartment of your washing machine to help brighten whites and soften fabrics.
  3. Essential Oil (Optional): If you prefer a fresh scent, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the vinegar in the fabric softener compartment.
  4. Washing:
    • Set your washing machine to the normal cycle for whites, using hot water if the fabric allows. The combination of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and vinegar will help whiten and brighten your laundry naturally.
  5. Drying: Dry your clothes as usual. For an extra boost of whiteness, hang them in the sun, which acts as a natural bleach.

This simple mixture is effective at keeping your whites bright and spotless without harsh chemicals. Just 1 tablespoon of each ingredient is enough to achieve a fresh, clean load of laundry!
