Onion Pest-Repellent Recipe and Methods

1. For Rats and Mice

  • Ingredients: Fresh onion
  • Method:
    • Slice an onion and place the slices in areas where you’ve noticed rats or mice activity. The strong smell of onions can drive them away.
    • Replace the onion slices every two days to keep the odor strong.
  • Note: Avoid placing onions in areas accessible to pets as onions are toxic to them.

2. For Flies

  • Ingredients: Onion juice, water, and spray bottle
  • Method:
    • Blend half an onion with water, strain, and pour the juice into a spray bottle.
    • Spray the solution around windows, doors, and other entry points to repel flies.
    • Refresh the spray every few hours as the smell fades.

3. For Lice

  • Ingredients: Onion juice
  • Method:
    • Blend onions into a paste and strain to extract the juice.
    • Apply the onion juice to the scalp, leave it on for 30-60 minutes, and then wash with a mild shampoo.
    • Repeat twice a week for best results.

4. For Bugs (e.g., ants, fleas)

  • Ingredients: Onion slices or onion juice
  • Method:
    • Place fresh onion slices in areas where bugs tend to gather.
    • For added effectiveness, wipe surfaces with onion juice.
    • Repeat daily to deter bugs.

5. For Lizards

  • Ingredients: Onion slices or onion spray
  • Method:
    • Place onion slices in areas where lizards frequent, such as near light sources and window sills.
    • Alternatively, spray onion juice mixed with water around these areas.

6. For Mosquitoes

  • Ingredients: Onion juice, lemon juice, water, and a spray bottle
  • Method:
    • Mix equal parts onion juice and lemon juice, then dilute with water.
    • Spray the mixture around windows, doors, and other areas to keep mosquitoes away.

7. For Cockroaches

  • Ingredients: Onion, baking soda, or boric acid
  • Method:
    • Mix diced onions with a small amount of baking soda or boric acid and place in cockroach-prone areas.
    • This acts as a repellent and, when ingested, can eliminate cockroaches.

Tips

  • Always handle onion-based solutions with gloves if you have sensitive skin.
  • Test any mixture on a small surface first to avoid staining or lingering odors.
