Only 1 cup for 1 loaf of bread without kneading in 1 hour!

This no-knead bread recipe is perfect for busy people who want to enjoy fresh-baked bread without all the fuss. The recipe only requires 1 cup of flour per loaf of bread, and it can be made in just 1 hour.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups (preferably white spelled or white wheat flour)
  • 1.5 cups warm water
  • 2 heaping teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons dry yeast

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and yeast.
  2. Add the warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rest for 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a loaf.
  5. Place the loaf in a greased 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  6. Cover the loaf with a damp cloth and let it rise for 30 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
  7. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  8. Bake the loaf for 30-35 minutes, or until it is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  9. Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing and slicing.

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, use white spelt flour or white wheat flour.
  • If you don’t have a kitchen scale, you can measure the flour by volume. 1 cup of flour is equal to 120 grams.
  • The water should be warm to the touch, but not hot. If the water is too hot, it will kill the yeast.
  • If the dough is too dry, add a tablespoon of water at a time until it is moist but not sticky.
  • If the dough is too wet, add a tablespoon of flour at a time until it is moist but not sticky.
  • Let the bread cool completely before slicing it. This will allow the bread to set and prevent it from crumbling.

Enjoy!

This no-knead bread is best enjoyed fresh. However, it can also be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
