Recipe: Lemon Slice Drain Freshener

Ingredients:

  • 1 fresh lemon slice (thin, about 1/4 inch thick)
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • Optional: 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • Warm water

Instructions:

  1. Preparation:
    • Cut a thin slice from a fresh lemon.
    • Optional: For extra cleaning power, gather baking soda and vinegar.
  2. Drain Placement:
    • Place the lemon slice directly into the kitchen drain.
  3. Optional Cleaning Boost:
    • For a deeper clean, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of baking soda down the drain before placing the lemon slice. Then pour 1/4 cup of white vinegar into the drain. Let it fizz for a minute or two.
  4. Rinse:
    • After placing the lemon, run warm water over the drain for 30 seconds to help break up any grime or lingering odors.
  5. Freshening Effect:
    • The acidity and oils from the lemon will naturally help to eliminate unpleasant odors and leave a fresh, citrusy scent. The optional baking soda and vinegar act as a gentle scrub for the drain.
  6. Repeat:
    • Repeat this process weekly or as needed to keep your drain smelling fresh and clean.

This simple, eco-friendly method helps to combat common kitchen drain odors while providing a fresh lemon scent!
