Recipe: Overnight Oven Cleaning

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • A spray bottle
  • A damp cloth or sponge
  • Gloves (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preparation:
    • Start by removing the oven racks and any loose debris from the oven.
    • Mix the baking soda and water in a small bowl to create a thick paste.
  2. Apply the Paste:
    • Spread the baking soda paste all over the interior surfaces of the oven, focusing on the bottom and the walls. Avoid the heating elements.
    • If your oven has stubborn spots, apply a thicker layer of the paste to those areas.
    • Let the paste sit overnight while you sleep. It will work to loosen grease and grime.
  3. Clean in the Morning:
    • In the morning, use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe away the baking soda paste. You should see the grime coming off easily.
    • For any remaining spots, use a little extra water or a scrub brush to remove them.
  4. Vinegar Rinse:
    • Fill a spray bottle with white vinegar.
    • Spray the vinegar over any remaining baking soda residue. The vinegar will react with the baking soda, fizzing and lifting off any leftover grime.
    • Wipe down the oven one last time with a clean, damp cloth.
  5. Final Touches:
    • Replace the oven racks and give them a quick wipe if needed.
    • Enjoy your sparkling clean oven without any harsh chemicals!

This method is gentle, non-toxic, and easy to do while you sleep, leaving you with a clean oven when you wake up.
