Materials Needed:
- Vaseline (petroleum jelly)
- Microfiber cloth
- Steel wool (quad zero)
- Gloves
Instructions:
- Preparation:
- Put on a pair of gloves to protect your hands. Vaseline can be greasy and may be difficult to wash off.
- Ensure the stove is completely cool before beginning.
- Applying Vaseline:
- Scoop a small amount of Vaseline with your fingers or a small spatula. A little goes a long way, so start with a small amount.
- Rub the Vaseline onto the surface of the stove using a circular motion. Focus on areas with grease buildup, stains, or grime.
- Cleaning with Steel Wool:
- Take a piece of quad zero steel wool (the finest grade) and gently scrub the areas where you applied the Vaseline. The Vaseline acts as a lubricant, making it easier to remove stubborn stains without scratching the surface.
- Use gentle, circular motions to avoid damaging the stove’s finish.
- Wiping Off:
- Once you’ve scrubbed the entire surface, use a clean microfiber cloth to wipe away the Vaseline and loosened grime. You may need to use multiple cloths if the stove was particularly dirty.
- Final Buff:
- After removing the Vaseline and grime, use a fresh microfiber cloth to buff the stove’s surface. This will remove any remaining residue and leave the stove with a shiny, polished finish.
Results:
Applying Vaseline helps to loosen stubborn grime and grease, while the steel wool and microfiber cloths help clean and polish the surface. You’ll be left with a stove that looks cleaner and more polished.
Note:
- This method is generally safe for most stove types, but always check your stove’s manufacturer instructions for cleaning recommendations. Avoid using steel wool on glass surfaces, as it can scratch them.
