Sage and Rooibos Tea for Gut Health Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp fresh sage leaves (rinsed and chopped) or 1/2 tsp dried sage
  • 1 tsp loose rooibos tea or 1 rooibos tea bag
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • Honey or lemon (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • If using fresh sage, rinse and chop the leaves. If using dried sage, measure out 1/2 tsp.
    • Set aside the rooibos tea.
  2. Soak the Sage:
    • Place the sage leaves in a mug.
    • Pour 1 cup of boiling water over the sage.
    • Cover the mug and allow the sage to steep for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Prepare the Rooibos:
    • After the sage has steeped for 5 minutes, add the rooibos tea to the same mug.
    • Let it steep with the sage for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Strain and Serve:
    • Drain the sage and rooibos mixture using a strainer.
    • Optionally, add honey or a slice of lemon for extra flavor.
  5. Enjoy:
    • Drink this tea once or twice a day, especially after meals to aid digestion and support gut health.

Precautions:

  1. Limit Intake: Due to the thujone content in sage, limit to 1-2 cups daily.
  2. Pregnancy & Lactation: Consult a healthcare provider before using sage, especially during pregnancy.
