Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 300g (2 cups) flour
- 1 egg
- 45g (1/4 cup) sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 7g dry yeast
- 140ml (3/5 cup) warm milk
- 40g (1/4 cup) softened butter
For Decoration:
- Whipped cream
- Strawberries, chopped
- Powdered sugar
Method:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a medium bowl, stir together the sugar, dry yeast, and warm milk until the yeast dissolves.
- Whisk in the egg.
- Add the flour and salt. Mix with a spatula until a dough starts to form. Then, use your hands to knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Incorporate the softened butter into the dough, kneading until fully integrated.
- Shape the dough into a ball, cover with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Shape the Dough:
- Once the dough has risen, divide it into eight equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
- Cover the balls and let them rest for 30 minutes.
- Gently flatten each ball and then re-shape it into a ball. Cover and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Fry the Dough Balls:
- Heat oil in a deep pan over low heat.
- Fry the dough balls in the hot oil, turning them occasionally, until golden brown on all sides (about 2-3 minutes per side).
- Remove from the oil and let cool slightly.
- Assemble the Strawberry Bombs:
- Once cooled, cut each dough ball in half like a burger bun.
- Spread whipped cream on one half and top with chopped strawberries.
- Place the other half on top, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and serve.
Enjoy your sweet and delicious Strawberry Bombs!
